Apple have just posted up it’s so called ‘apology‘ to Samsung as forced to do so after a UK court ruling following apple’s recent case against Samsung. This cheeky statement is not even remotely apologetic and cleverly manages to slate Samsung and its Galaxy Tab by quoting a remark from the judge that the Galaxy Tab is ‘Not Cool’!

The Samsung Galaxy Tab

The Apple Ipad
The post itself is titled ‘Samsung/Apple UK Judgement’ and begins by summarising the result of the appeal with the court ruling in favour of the Galaxy Tab which does ‘ not infringe Apple’s registered design …’.
The statement then goes on to quote the judge firstly stating the design of the Ipad:
“The extreme simplicity of the Apple Design is striking”
Again to quote the judge:
“It’s a cool design”
Apple then cleverly quote the judge in reference to the Galaxy Tab vs the Ipad:
“Samsung Products are very thin, almost insubstantial members of that family with unusual details on the back. They do not have the same understated and extreme simplicity which is possessed by the Apple design.”
“They are not as cool”
Those are direct references from the judge that ruled in favour of Samsung.
Apple finally go on to emphasise the fact that cases in Germany and the US ruled in favour of Apple resulting in over 1 billion US Dollars in damages to Apple.
The closing statement summarises apples remaining stance on the matter:
“So while the U.K. court did not find Samsung guilty of infringement, other courts have recognized that in the course of creating its Galaxy tablet, Samsung willfully copied Apple’s far more popular iPad.”
It will be interesting to see if Samsung respond to this cheeky statement by Apple. Samsung’s original response to the ruling is below:
“We continue to believe that Apple was not the first to design a tablet with a rectangular shape and rounded corners and that the origins of Apple’s registered design features can be found in numerous examples of prior art.”
